Why do I continue to **** at Tennis?

tyler asked:

I know someone who is rated a 4.5 and when I hit with him for practice I do pretty well. I also hit well with the ball machine.

HOWEVER, when I play a game against people my level (3.5) or worse, I totally choke. I can’t even return really weak serves. I lose 6-0 to people who I should be able to beat easily.

So why do I **** at playing the game when I do okay during practice or hitting with the ball machine?
I’m so frustrated about this I’m thinking about quitting altogether.

Tennis tips? please help?

Nina is here! :D asked:

well I’m really bad at tennis and I need some help..

When I hit the ball, it always pops in the air before it goes down. It never does that when I watch other people play. Occasionally it goes low over the net but not much. How do I make sure it doesn’t pop in the air? How do I make it go low over the net?

If you have any websites that help me please list them…

I asked my parents if I could get lessons but is there really a need for lessons? They think all you have to do is practice and stuff but how can I practice when I have no one to play with (or anyone patient enough to play with me)?

If I use a ball machine, would that help me? Is it really neccesary to get lessons?

Hey guys, I have been having trouble with my forehand at tennis, especially the inconsistency. Advice please?

Tom asked:

Does anyone know what this wrist assist or raquet bracket thing is like which helps keep your wrist in position? I used to be much better that I am now but I had a pretty bad injury and didn’t play for like 3 years and seem to have picked up loads of bad habits with my forehand. I’m pretty sure the take back loop isn’t consistent enough and I have been trying to use the ball machine to sort but doesn’t really seem to be working. Its really frustrating me. Cheers
